Biography

Adam Richard Sandler (September 9, 1966) is an American comedian, actor, and film director who jumped to fame as part of the cast of the sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live in the early 90s. During his tenure on the show, he wrote and popularized the holiday-themed songs “The Chanukah Song” and “The Thanksgiving Song,” both of which became bona fide hits on Billboard’s Alternative Airplay charts, with the latter receiving heavy airplay during Thanksgiving season. Featuring several pop culture references delivered in his trademark semi-falsetto voice, “The Thanksgiving Song” was included in Adam Sandler’s debut album They’re All Gonna Laugh at You (1993) and was later issued as a single in 1997, reaching Number 40 on the Adult Top 40 Airplay chart. After leaving SNL, he went on to become one of the most successful and versatile actors in Hollywood, starring in comedies such as Billy Madison (1995), Happy Gilmore (1996), and The Wedding Singer (1998), and auteur films like Punch-Drunk Love (2002), The Meyerowitz Stories (2017), and Uncut Gems (2019). Other comedy albums by Adam Sandler include What the Hell Happened to Me? (1996), What's Your Name? (1997), and Stan and Judy's Kid (1999).
