Biography

Alexandra Căpitănescu was born on 31 July 2003 in Galați, Romania, where she grew up studying singing from age ten and taking piano lessons. She first entered the public eye at 15 on Românii au talent, and after encouragement from presenter Smiley, she appeared on Vocea României; at 19 she won season 11 of that competition. In 2023 Alexandra Căpitănescu released the single "Nu Pot" and followed it with "A ta" in June 2024, leading to her debut EP Căpitanu' on 5 April 2024 under Universal Music Romania. That same year she added the tracks "Arde" (8 November 2024) and "De sărbători" (15 December 2025) to her growing catalog. January 2026 saw her join the folk‑metal band E‑an‑na as a temporary guitarist, and on 6 February 2026 the national broadcaster TVR announced Alexandra Căpitănescu as a semi‑finalist in Selecția națională 2026; she won the national final on 4 March 2026 with the entry "Choke Me", which she performed in the second semi‑final on 14 May 2026 and ultimately placed third in the Eurovision Song Contest final on 16 May 2026, matching Romania’s best ever result. Alexandra Căpitănescu continues to record, with singles such as "Dilaila" (26 September 2025) and "HEAT" (22 May 2026), while pursuing a Master’s in Medical Physics.
