Alexandra CÄpitÄnescu was born on 31â¯Julyâ¯2003 in GalaÈi, Romania, where she grew up studying singing from age ten and taking piano lessons. She first entered the public eye at 15 on Românii au talent, and after encouragement from presenter Smiley, she appeared on Vocea României; at 19 she won season 11 of that competition. In 2023 Alexandra CÄpitÄnescu released the single "Nu Pot" and followed it with "A ta" in Juneâ¯2024, leading to her debut EP CÄpitanu' on 5â¯Aprilâ¯2024 under Universal Music Romania. That same year she added the tracks "Arde" (8â¯Novemberâ¯2024) and "De sÄrbÄtori" (15â¯Decemberâ¯2025) to her growing catalog. Januaryâ¯2026 saw her join the folkâmetal band Eâanâna as a temporary guitarist, and on 6â¯Februaryâ¯2026 the national broadcaster TVR announced Alexandra CÄpitÄnescu as a semiâfinalist in SelecÈia naÈionalÄ 2026; she won the national final on 4â¯Marchâ¯2026 with the entry "Choke Me", which she performed in the second semiâfinal on 14â¯Mayâ¯2026 and ultimately placed third in the Eurovision Song Contest final on 16â¯Mayâ¯2026, matching Romaniaâs best ever result. Alexandra CÄpitÄnescu continues to record, with singles such as "Dilaila" (26â¯Septemberâ¯2025) and "HEAT" (22â¯Mayâ¯2026), while pursuing a Masterâs in Medical Physics.
