Biography

Aleksey Igudesman, born on July 22, 1973, in Leningrad, Soviet Union, is a Russian-German violinist and composer. At age six, his family emigrated to Vienna, Austria. After his father's death when Aleksey was eleven, he studied at the Yehudi Menuhin School near London and later under Boris Kuschnir at the Konservatorium Wien from 1989 to 1998. Igudesman's compositions, published by Universal Edition, include works like Klezmer & More and Celtic & More. His first three violin sonatas were released in 2009 and 2010. In 2009, he won the third prize at the Crossover Composition Award for his work "Fever of Passion". His compositions have been performed by orchestras including the New York Philharmonic and Wiener Symphoniker. Since 2017, Igudesman has toured globally with The Music Critic, featuring John Malkovich as the lead actor.
