Trained at the Conservatoire, he launched a solo career in 1982, which was first acclaimed with the single "L'eau de Nice " a year later. He formed the group Léopold Nord & Vous in 1983 with his two brothers, Benoit and Hubert. The trio met with success with the single "C'Est l'amour" , which sold over a million copies. It is certified Disque d'Or in France and remains in the Top 50 for twenty-four weeks. Alec writes the song "L'Amour l'amour ", which represents Luxembourg at Eurovision. He scored another hit in 2001 with "Cette Femme est un héros", taken from the album Vivement demain. Alec Mension performed in the "RFM Party 80" tours, released several singles and a duet album featuring songs by his group, Leopold Nord et eux in 2009.
