Biography

Alan Fred Titchmarsh, born in Ilkley, West Yorkshire, is a gardener turned journalist, TV presenter, radio host and author of numerous books on his speciality. His media career began on BBC television in 1983, and continued with House in a Garden in 1988 and Gardener's World in 1996. He presents programs dedicated to light classical music on BBC Radio 2 and created the Alan Titchmarsh Show from 2007 to 2014, among many other occupations, including writing some twenty books on gardening, memoirs or books of fiction and collections of poetry. In 2013, he recorded an album telling the Bible to children, Read with Me! followed by The Glorious Garden in 2018, with music composed by Debbie Wiseman. In 2024, the latter created a new score for the story Jack Frost: A Winter Story, featuring arias sung by soprano Grace Davidson.
