Al Berard, born in 1960, was an American musician, recording artist, and composer known for his contributions to Cajun music. Influenced by the Cajun songs he heard growing up in South Louisiana, he began playing guitar at age eleven and later formed The Basin Brothers Band, which performed traditional and original Cajun French music across the United States and Europe. Berard also owned a recording studio and a music publishing company, OPLAMAE Music/BMI, and released two notable albums, Feet Off the Ground in 2000 and Incredible Journey in 2014. He passed away on February 26, 2014, in Lafayette, Louisiana, following an aneurysm.
