Akae Beka, a roots reggae band from Saint Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, was formed in 2015 by members of the band Midnite following a change in their membership. The group's name is derived from the Book of Enoch 68:20-24. Akae Beka's first performance took place on July 17, 2015, in Denver, Colorado, in honor of Nelson Mandela Day. Their debut album, Homage to the Land, was released later that year. The band went on to release several albums including Portals (2016), Livicated (2016), and Protocols (2020). Notable singles include "Loyalty" and "New Page", both released in 2016. Akae Beka's lead vocalist, Vaughn Benjamin, passed away on November 4, 2019, in Port St Lucie, Florida. The band played its final tribute show on February 12, 2020, at The Worldbeat Cultural Center in San Diego, California.
