Born in 1989, Ajeya, whose name means "The Invincible" in Hindi, owes her pseudonym to her Indo-Reunionese origins. From an early age, she studied piano, singing and classical guitar at music school, and practiced covers of Lauryn Hill and Alice In Chains. She left Réunion Island at the age of 17 to study for a degree in literature and philosophy in Bristol, England, before arriving in Paris to complete her studies at the Sorbonne. In the French capital, she met composer and artistic director Loïc Le Dévéhat, with whom she collaborated to produce her first demos, before giving shape to her musical project with the arrival of several musicians to accompany her on stage. Reflecting her varied influences, her on-stage universe ranges from alternative rock to hip-hop, dub grunge and even metal, but never loses sight of Indian spirituality. In 2016, her track "Parisienne", which is distinctly more RnB, even pop, managed to chart in France.
