Biography
Aigel, a Tatar-Russian electronic hip-hop duo, was formed in 2016 by Aigel Gaisina, a poet from Naberezhnye Chelny, and Ilya Baramiya, an electronic musician from Saint Petersburg. The group released its debut album, 1190, in 2017, followed by the EP BuŠBaŠin August of the same year. Aigel gained significant attention with the music video for "Tatarin," which had over 40 million views by June 2019. The group continued releasing albums including Muzyka (2018), Eden (2019), and Pıyala (2020). Due to their public opposition to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Aigel was placed on a list of artists whose work was "not recommended" by the Russian government in September 2022, leading Gaisina and Baramiya to leave Russia permanently.
