Agrupación Marilyn formed in Buenos Aires in mid-2006, created by Santiago Ismael âEl Lechugaâ Torres with lead vocals by Juan Ãscar âJuancitoâ Rivarola and an original lineup including Maury (timbales), Changa (bass), Gastón (guitar), Turko (keyboards) and Claudio (güiro), shaping a romantic, street-level âcumbia testimonialâ sound. Their debut album Historias (2006) featured enduring hits such as âSu Florcita,â âMamá Soltera,â âMe Enamoré,â âY Dime,â âOh Marilyn,â and â2 de Abril,â which quickly became staples of Argentine cumbia. The follow-up Hecho con Amor (2008) broadened their national reach with songs like âBonita,â âCosas del Amor,â and âBusco Amor,â while Para el Mundo (2012) compiled their best-known tracks for a wider audience. Throughout the 2010s, Agrupación Marilyn remained active on the touring circuit and refreshed their catalog with medleys such as the 2018 single âSu Florcita / Me Enamoré / Mamá Soltera.â A key transition came in the early 2020s when former vocalist Sebastián Rivarola, who had been part of the groupâs earlier lineup, passed away in 2022âan event that deeply affected both the band and their followers. Despite the loss, Agrupación Marilyn continued releasing new material, including âMi Hermano y Mi Mujerâ and âTrampasâ in 2020, as well as âPiel y Huesosâ and âTú Eresâ in 2024.
