Biography

Edwin A. Smith, known professionally as Fast Eddie, is an American DJ and producer from Chicago, Illinois. He began his career during the early Chicago house movement, performing on WGCI-FM and WBMX. In 1987, he released early singles such as “Can You Dance” with Kenny “Jammin’” Jason and “The Whop.” In 1988, he produced “Acid Thunder,” one of his biggest hits, and helped popularize the hip house genre with tracks like “Hip House.” He scored several hits on the US Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart, including “Git On Up” featuring Sundance, which reached Number 1 in 1989. In 1990, he experimented with gangsta rap by forming America’s Most Wanted and released singles such as “Make Some Noise.”
