Edwin A. Smith, known professionally as Fast Eddie, is an American DJ and producer from Chicago, Illinois. He began his career during the early Chicago house movement, performing on WGCI-FM and WBMX. In 1987, he released early singles such as âCan You Danceâ with Kenny âJamminââ Jason and âThe Whop.â In 1988, he produced âAcid Thunder,â one of his biggest hits, and helped popularize the hip house genre with tracks like âHip House.â He scored several hits on the US Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart, including âGit On Upâ featuring Sundance, which reached Number 1 in 1989. In 1990, he experimented with gangsta rap by forming Americaâs Most Wanted and released singles such as âMake Some Noise.â
