Biography
8kids, a German post-hardcore band from Darmstadt, was formed in 2013 by Hans Koch and Jonas Jakob. The duo had been active on the local music scene before Emma McLellan joined as drummer. In February 2016, 8kids signed a recording deal with Napalm Records, and in March 2016 with Melodie der Welt and Ever Ever Management. Their debut EP Dämonen was released on 29 April 2016, preceded by the music video for "Alles löst sich auf." The band's first album, Denen, die wir waren, produced by Kristian Kohlmannslehner (who also played bass in live performances), was released on 26 May 2017. They toured extensively, including supporting To the Rats and Wolves and Van Holzen, and performing at festivals like With Full Force and Hurricane Festival. Their second studio album, Blūten, was released on 23 August 2019, featuring the single "Kraft." In mid-May 2022, Emma McLellan left the band, with Leif taking over as drummer.
