The Amber Light was a German rock band from Wiesbaden, formed in 2001 by Jan Sydow, Rabin Dasgupta, Louis Gabbiani, and Timo Hintz. Early on, Timo Hintz left the group to pursue a career as a sound engineer, replaced by Peter Ederer. Their debut album Goodbye to Dusk - Farewell to Dawn was released in 2004, receiving critical acclaim for its dark, melancholic tone and garnering significant attention within rock circles. The band's subsequent EP Stranger & Strangers, released in January 2005, featured a more straightforward sound compared to their debut. They embarked on extensive tours across Europe, supporting acts such as Wir sind Helden and Archive. In August 2006, Peter Ederer departed, with Robert Fischer taking over drumming duties. The band's second album Play was released in April 2008, produced by Jean-Michel Tourette and Jens Nickel.
