39 Clocks are an underground neo-psychedelic band from Hanover, Germany. The group released their first 7âinch single DNS / Twisted & Shouts on Noâ¯Fun Records in 1980, followed by the LP Pain It Dark the next year, establishing a neoâpsychedelic sound that combined the Velvet Underground imagery with 1960s American garage rock. They founded the label Psychotic Promotion and issued their albums Subnarcotic (1982) and Cold Steel To The Heart (1985). Their work also appeared on the soundtrack of the 1998 film 23 â Nichts ist so wie es scheint.
