Biography
Charlan Zouaoui-Peyrot (born on March 7, 1997), also known as Zed Yun Pavarotti, is a French singer-songwriter and rapper whose unclassifiable style blurs the line between cloud rap, pop, and trap. An avid listener from an early age, Zouaoui-Peyrot used music to escape the monotony of his childhood in an old mining town in Saint-Ãtienne, citing classical music, metal, and hip-hop as his biggest influences. After attending college to study theology first, and then musicology, he dropped out to focus on his music career and soon made his official debut with Sextus (2016), a six-track EP heavily informed by heavy metal music. Fabric5 (2017), a collaborative effort with the POSA collective, arrived a year later and was followed by Grand Zéro (2018), Zouaoui-Peyrotâs debut mixtape and his first for independent label Artside Music. In 2019, he delivered a second mixtape entitled French Cash (2019), which exposed the MC to a wider audience and took him on a promotional tour throughout France, Belgium, and Switzerland that same year. Preceded by the singles âIles,â âLalaland,â âMon dieu,â and âMon frère,â Beauseigne (2020), Zouaoui-Peyrotâs first proper full-length album, found the artist moving out of his comfort zone, experimenting with pop structures and expanding his sonic palette.
