Biography

Yujiro Kudo, born in 1987 in Miyazaki Prefecture and currently based in Asagaya, is a Japanese singer-songwriter known for his lo-fi, narrative-driven style that blends acoustic folk with ambient textures. Drawing on themes of loneliness, humor, and everyday scenery, Kudo crafts music that comfortably walks off the beaten path. He manages his own indie label, Ozouni Records, and performs primarily solo with guitar, occasionally incorporating synthesizers and effects for a layered sound. He released his debut album Neko to Obake to Daidokoro in 2012 after emerging from a reclusive period. His second album Sōgiya no Musume, released in 2015, unexpectedly gained traction when it was praised as a masterpiece by musician Keiichi Sokabe on Twitter. This led to the release of his third album Danchi no Kyōryū under ROSE RECORDS in 2018. Kudo has since released several mini albums and digital singles, including the EPs Shocchū Mimai (2019) and Zansho Mimai (2020), and provided songs for TV Tokyo’s “Synapusyu” and the WOWOW drama 0.5 no Otoko in 2023. His fourth album Bon Voyage Boogie was released that same year. His songcraft continues to charm fans with its grounded yet whimsical tone.
