Biography

Yolanda Kondonassis, born in 1963 in Norman, Oklahoma, is an American classical harpist and music educator. She studied at Interlochen Arts Academy and Cleveland Institute of Music, earning degrees under Alice Chalifoux. Kondonassis debuted with the New York Philharmonic and Zubin Mehta at age 18. Her career includes performances with orchestras like the Cleveland Orchestra and English Chamber Orchestra. Notable albums include Air (2008), featuring "And Then I Knew 'Twas Wind", which was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2010, and American Rapture (2019), winning a Grammy for Best Contemporary Classical Composition. She leads the harp departments at Oberlin Conservatory of Music and Cleveland Institute of Music and has authored books on harp technique.
