Biography

Yiannis Katevas, born on October 8, 1950, in Komotini, Greece, is a Greek singer and songwriter. He began his career at age 16 as vocalist and lead guitarist of the pop group "The Beatniks." He was mentored by composer Giorgos Mitsakis, who wrote his first two songs for Columbia Records. His debut studio album Και Αύριο και Πάντα was released in 1976. Throughout his career, he released multiple full-length studio albums, including notable singles like "Τα Γιασεμάκια Σου" (1979) and "Να Μ΄Αγαπάς Τώρα" (1981). Many of these albums went gold, featuring hit singles such as "Αν Γινότανε" (1976), "Αν μου χαρίσουν" (1979), and "Ποιος Μωρό Μου Ποιος" (1995). Apart from singing, Yiannis Katevas also plays guitar and has written the majority of the music in his recordings. His later works, including Γεια σου Ελλάδα (2003) and Και χορεύει η Ελλάδα (2006), celebrate traditional dance music with medleys from various regions of Greece.
