Biography

Yat-Kha, a Tuvan rock band, was formed in 1991 in Moscow by Albert Kuvezin and Ivan Sokolowski. Initially blending traditional Tuvan music with electronic elements, the group evolved into a fusion of folk and rock, characterized by Kuvezin's deep-throated singing style known as Kargyraa. Their debut album was released in 1993 under the name Yat-Kha, but Sokolowski left soon after, leading to a shift towards a more rock-oriented sound. In 1995, they released their first album as a band, Yenisei-Punk. The band's subsequent albums include Dalai Beldiri (1999), Tuva Rock (2003), and Re-Covers (2005). Notable collaborations include the 2007 Best-Of album Time Freeze by Asian Dub Foundation, featuring the track "Siberian Slengteng". In 2018, Albert Kuvezin released a live single. The band released the unplugged album We Will Never Die in 2021.
