Biography

Waikiki was a rock group from Sydney, Australia, formed by siblings Juanita Stein (bass/vocals) and Joel Stein (guitar/vocals) with drummer Glenn Moule and guitarist Jimmy Brandon. The band released EP Here Comes September on 12 August 2002, which included the track "Here Comes September" that placed 36th on the 2002 Triple J Hottest 100 poll. In early 2003 Brendan Picchio joined as bassist, replacing Jimmy Brandon, and the group shifted its sound. By 2004 Waikiki disbanded, relocated to London, and re‑formed as Howling Bells. Their sole studio album, I'm Already Home, was issued in 2002 under Liberation Music (catalogue LIBCD4050.2). The band’s releases contributed to the early 2000s Australian alternative scene, and their chart placement remains a noted achievement in the genre.
