Vyacheslav Gennadievich Butusov, born on October 15, 1961 in the Russian Federation, is a singer-songwriter and composer. While studying at the Sverdlovsk Architectural Institute, he met musician Dmitry Umetsky, leading to the formation of Nautilus Pompilius. Their first album Pereyezd was released in 1982. In 1985, Butusov collaborated with poet Ilya Kormiltsev on the band's breakthrough album Nevidimka. The duo continued their success with Razluka in 1986 and Yablokitai in 1996. After Nautilus Pompilius disbanded, Butusov began his solo career with albums like Ovaly (1998) and Tikhe igry (2001). He also founded the band U-Piter in 2001 with guitarist Yuri Kasparyan. In 2017, he formed Orden Slavy. Butusov's work has been recognized with awards such as the Lenin Komsomol Prize in 1989 and the Order For Merit to the Fatherland in 2011. He has also composed soundtracks for films like Brother (1997) and Holy Archipelago (2022).
