Biography
Viva Voce was an American indie rock band from Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Formed in 1998 by Kevin Robinson and Anita Robinson, the ensemble relocated to Nashville and then to the Portland area in 2003. Their music drew on influences including classic rock, psychedelic rock, folk and R&B. The group released its debut album Hooray for Now in 1998. This was followed by the albums Lovers, Lead the Way! (2003) and The Heat Can Melt Your Brain (2004). Viva Voce toured in Europe and performed with acts including The Shins and Jimmy Eat World. Their subsequent recordings included the albums Get Yr Blood Sucked Out (2006), Rose City (2009) and The Future Will Destroy You (2011). The band also issued the single âFrom the Devil Himselfâ in 2006. Viva Voce disbanded in 2013 when the Robinsons divorced.
