Born in London, Joseph Winger Thornalley, known as Vegyn, began making beats in 2013 while studying design at the London College of Communication. He soon left university to pursue music, founding the PLZ Make It Ruins label. His early work caught the attention of James Blake, who played Vegynâs tracks on BBC Radio in 2014. At the club Plastic People, he met Frank Ocean, later contributing to Oceanâs albums Blonde and Endless, and hosting Blonded Radio in 2017. In 2019, he released the mixtape Text While Driving If You Want To Meet God! and debut album Only Diamonds Cut Diamonds. In 2023, under the alias Headache, he released The Head Hurts but the Heart Knows the Truth, featuring AI vocals. In 2024, he followed up with The Road to Hell Is Paved with Good Intentions. Vegyn has also performed at Fuji Rock, EartH London, and major U.S. venues, cementing his role in experimental electronic music.
