Biography

Ultra Violent PØP, often abbreviated as U.V. PØP, is a British post-punk band from Sheffield, United Kingdom, founded by John Kevin White in 1981. They released their first single "Just A Game / No Songs Tomorrow" in 1982, which was produced by Cabaret Voltaire. They released their debut album No Songs Tomorrow in 1983, which gained attention in the UK and Germany. They toured with acts such as In the Nursery, Danse Society, Pulp, and Culture Club. In 1986, they released the single "Serious" and the album Bendy Baby Man. "Serious" became a popular new wave anthem. They remained active until 1997 before withdrawing from the public. White reformed U.V. PØP in 2010. They released new compilations and re-releases, including The Anthology and Anyone For Me / Bendy Baby Man in 2011. They released the album Sound Of Silence in 2022.
