Uncle Waffles (born Lungelihle Zwane on 30 March 2000, in Eswatini) is a dynamic DJ and producer renowned for her electrifying performances and pivotal role in globalising the South African music genre, amapiano. She began her DJ journey in 2020 during the COVID-19 lockdowns, practising intensively and quickly gaining attention for her high-energy sets and distinctive dance moves behind the decks. Her breakthrough moment came in October 2021 when a viral video of her dancing to "Adiwele" at Soweto's Zone 6 nightclub propelled her into the spotlight. In 2022, Uncle Waffles released her debut single "Tanzania," which became a massive hit, earning 7Ã Platinum status in South Africa and solidifying her as a global ambassador for amapiano. She followed up with successful EPs, including Red Dragon (2022), Asylum (2023), and Solace (2023), featuring chart-topping singles like "Yahyuppiyah" and "Peacock (Revisit)." Her international acclaim soared with performances at major festivals such as Coachella in 2023, marking one of the first amapiano acts at the iconic event. In 2024, she made history as the first amapiano DJ to headline London's Wireless Festival. In 2025, she landed a spot on the UK's Top 20 Afrobeats Songs Official Chart with "ZENZELE," also featuring Royal MusiQ, Uncool MC, CowBoii, and Xduppy.
