Biography
Julie-Anne Derome, a Canadian violinist born in Montreal, Quebec, began playing the violin at age three. She studied with notable instructors including Taras Gabora and Sonia Jelinkova at the Montreal Conservatoire. In 1992, Derome premiered the revised version of Berg's Violin Concerto with the Symphony Orchestra of the RNCM, highlighting her affinity for 20th-century music. She founded Trio Fibonacci in 1998, known for premiering works by international composers. Derome's awards include the a special prize at the Yehudi Menuhin competition (1991), the Mendelssohn Trust Award (1995), and the Virginia Parker Prize (2003). Her discography includes Solo (1996) and collaborative albums with Trio Fibonacci.
