Toncho Pilatos, a Mexican rock group formed in the 1960s, emerged as one of the most representative bands of Mexico's underground rock scene. Their original music and instrumentation quickly gained attention, leading to their first album, Toncho Pilatos, released on July 10, 1971, under Polydor Records' Rock Power series. The band made their television debut on May 3, 1974, on the program "La Hora Cero" and collaborated with Mariachi Nuevo Tecalitlán for live performances. Despite a hiatus due to the repression following the Avándaro Festival, Toncho Pilatos returned in 1980 with Segunda Vez. The group faced challenges, including a stint in Los Angeles as Toncho Indian Braves, before releasing their final album, "Soy Mexicano" (also known as "El IncreÃble"), in 1992. Alfonso Toncho Guerrero, the band's lead singer, passed away on July 4, 1992. The group's impact on Mexican rock is enduring, with their albums now considered cult classics.
