Biography

Tomomi Nishimoto, born on April 22, 1970, in Osaka, Japan, is a conductor and stage director. Her interest in conducting was sparked by her mother's musical influence and early piano lessons. Nishimoto earned a Bachelor of Music in Composition from Osaka College of Music in 1994 and later studied at the Saint Petersburg State Conservatory. She began her formal conducting career in 1998 with the Kyoto Symphony Orchestra. In 2002, she served as chief conductor of the Bolshoi Symphony Orchestra Millennium and led notable performances, including the first public completion of Tchaikovsky’s unfinished symphony Symphony in E-flat in 2005. Nishimoto has held various prestigious positions, including Artistic Director and Conductor of IlluminArt in 2012 and Honorary Artistic Advisor of the Guangzhou Opera House in 2018.
