the telephones is a Japanese rock band formed in 2005 in Saitama, Japan. They debuted with their first EP "we are the handclaps E.P." in April 2007. They released their first album "JAPAN" in April 2008, followed by their second EP "Love&DISCO E.P." in August, and their second album "DANCE FLOOR MONSTERS" in July 2009. This was followed by their 3rd album "We Love Telephones! and their 4th album "Rock Kingdom" in 2011, followed by their first single "Keep Your DISCO!!! / Ring a Bell" in March 2013. / Ring a Bell" in March 2013. Immediately after, their 5th album "Laugh,Cry,Sing...! And Dance! In 2014, they released their 6th album "SUPER HIGH TENSION!!!", which debuted at No. 16 on the Oricon chart. After the release of their 6th album "SUPER HIGH TENSION!!!" in 2014, they announced at their year-end concert that they would go on an indefinite hiatus the following year, and after their 7th album "Bye Bye Hello" in July 2015, they went on hiatus after their November concert. 2.5 years later in 2018, they returned with a live performance, and in October 2019, they released the single "Light Your Fire" for distribution. In November 2020, they released their first album "NEW! in 2022, and in 2024, they began releasing singles for distribution, and in May released their 10th album, "Life Is a D.A.N.C.E.".
