Biography

The Tango Saloon is an Australian experimental tango band from Sydney, formed in 2005. Their debut album, Tango Saloon, was released in 2006 by Ipecac Recordings, blending tango and spaghetti western influences. In June 2007, The Tango Saloon supported Peeping Tom on their Australian tour. Subsequent albums include Transylvania (2008), featuring a guest vocal from Mike Patton on the track "Dracula Cha Cha", Shadows & Fog (2012) and Suspicion (2015). The band has performed with notable acts such as Mondo Cane at Sydney Festival 2012, and Marc Ribot in 2015. Bandleader Julian Curwin has also led related projects, including The Mango Balloon and The Golden Strangers.
