The Retuses, a Russian indie folk rock group originating from Zelenograd, was formed in 2007 by Mikhail Rodionov and Kirill Nazarov. Rodionov began his musical journey at a young age, initially taking guitar lessons before continuing as self-educated musician. His early influences included Beirut and Alexandre Vertinski. In 2009, The Retuses released their debut album Echo under the label Whispering, marking their first public performance on May 12 of that year. The following year, they signed with the recording company Snegiri and began participating in various festivals. Their breakthrough came with the release of Waltz Baltika! in 2011, which was officially launched at a concert in Moscow's 16 Tons club. In 2013, The Retuses released Astra, after which Rodionov pursued a solo career.
