The Overlanders, a British folk-pop band from the 1960s, were formed in 1963 by Peter Bartholomew, Paul Arnold, and Laurie Mason. The group initially struggled against the rising tide of beat music but gained critical acclaim for their early singles such as "Summer Skies and Golden Sands" and "Movin'". Their breakthrough came with the album Yesterday's Gone, which achieved modest success in the USA during the British Invasion era. In January 1966, the band added Schlagzeuger David Walsh and Bassist Terry Widlake, shifting their sound towards a more pop-oriented direction. This change culminated in their biggest hit, "Michelle", a folk-infused cover of The Beatles' song, which reached Number 1 in the UK in early 1966. Despite this success, subsequent singles failed to chart, and Paul Arnold left the band in October 1966. The Overlanders released a collaborative album with the Settlers titled Go! With The Overlanders And The Settlers in 1967, marking a return to their folk roots before disbanding at the end of that year.
