Biography
The Low Anthem are an American indieâfolk group formed in Providence, Rhode Island, in 2006 by Ben Knox Miller and Jeff Prystowsky, who met while DJing a Brown University radio show. Their debut concept album, What the Crow Brings (2007), was selfâreleased from Knox Miller and Jeff Prystowskyâs apartment. In 2008, they issued Oh My God, Charlie Darwin, later reissued by Nonesuch Records and Bella Union. The 2011 album, Smart Flesh, featured the single "Ghost Woman Blues" and was recorded in a Rhode Island factory. After touring with the Avett Brothers, Emmylou Harris, and Iron & Wine, the band signed to Washington Square Music and released Eyeland in 2016. The group returned to record The Salt Doll Went to Measure the Depth of the Sea, released on Joyful Noise Recordings in February 2018 to critical acclaim. In 2019, they issued a 10thâanniversary vinyl of Oh My God, Charlie Darwin and embarked on a tour.
