Biography

The Epstein Brothers Orchestra was a Jewish musical quartet from New York City, consisting of brothers Max Epstein, William "Willie" Epstein, Julius "Julie" Epstein and Isidore "Chi" Epstein. The band primarily played Klezmer music. In 1996, three of the brothers performed in the documentary A Tickle in the Heart. The group received a 1998 National Heritage Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts. Julius Epstein was the last surviving member until his death in July 2015.
