The Hafler Trio, an English conceptual, sound, and performance art collaborative project, was formed in the early 1980s by Andrew McKenzie and Chris Watson. The "trio" included a fictional scientist, Dr. Edward Moolenbeek, although the group later became primarily the solo project of McKenzie. Notable early albums include "BANG" â An Open Letter (1984) and The Sea Org (1986). Throughout their career, they released numerous experimental music albums such as A Thirsty Fish (1987), Intoutof (1988), and Ignotum Per Ignotius (1989). The group collaborated with various artists including Steven Stapleton of Nurse With Wound, Annie Sprinkle, and Jónsi Birgisson of Sigur Rós.
