The Football Classics Band is a group of studio musicians behind the compilation Footie Anthems. The compilation, released on May 17, 2010, on the Demon Music Group label, features faithful covers of iconic songs from soccer stadium culture, performed by anonymous studio musicians. It includes songs made famous by Queen (âWe Are the Championsâ), Journey (âDonât Stop Believinââ), U2 (âBeautiful Dayâ), Europe (âThe Final Countdownâ), and Junkie XLâs remix of Elvis Presleyâs âA Little Less Conversationâ. In addition to these stadium anthems, the album also features covers of songs created specifically for tournaments that went on to become chart-topping hits, such as âWorld in Motionâ by New Order, â3 Lionsâ by Baddiel, Skinner & The Lightning Seeds, âVindalooâ by Fat Les, âCome On Englandâ by Ant & Dec, and âEat My Goalâ by Collapsed Lung. In 2026, to mark the 23rd FIFA World Cup, the compilation re-entered the UK charts and reached No. 77 on the download chart.
