The Dedication Orchestra was a British big band of creative jazz, founded by Louis Moholo. The group emerged as a tribute to South African band The Blue Notes and their composers. Their debut concert took place on New Year's Day at London's 100 Club, featuring notable musicians like Harry Beckett, Django Bates, Kenny Wheeler, Elton Dean, Evan Parker, Paul Rutherford, and Louis Moholo himself. The event honored deceased members of The Blue Notes and Brotherhood of Breath, while supporting the Spirits Rejoice fund for young talents in South Africa. Following the concert, the orchestra recorded their debut album Spirits Rejoice (1992), featuring arrangements by Keith Tippett, Kenny Wheeler, Eddie Parker, among others. Notable tracks include "Hug Pine" and "Sonia". In 1994, they released Ixesha (Time), which included compositions by Johnny Dyani and Chris McGregor. The orchestra also notably performed at the Verona Jazz Festival in June 2001.
