The Blackwater Fever, an Australian blues rock trio, was formed in Brisbane, Queensland in 2005 by Shane Hicks on vocals and guitar, and Rick DeMarco on drums. Their debut five-track extended play, Abused Blues, released in 2006, marked their initial breakthrough. By 2008, they had gained national radio exposure through youth station Triple J and released their first studio album, Sweet Misery (2008). The band's lineup evolved over the years, with Jed A. Walters joining on bass guitar and keyboards in late 2010. Their subsequent albums included In Stereo (2011), The Depths (2013), and Delusions (2017). The Blackwater Fever have opened for notable acts such as The Black Keys, Clutch, and Tame Impala, and performed at festivals including The Big Day Out and Blues Fest. Their music has also been featured on various networks and in films and shows like The Tunnel and Shameless.
