The Bar-Steward Sons of Val Doonican, a British comedy folk and parody band from Barnsley, South Yorkshire, formed in 2006 as an acoustic harmony duo consisting of Scott Doonican and Danny Doonican. They adopted their name inspired by a poster for The Bastard Sons of Johnny Cash, a San Diego band, and the idea to use an ironic figure like Irish entertainer Val Doonican. Their first show was at Thawleys Pub in Wombwell, Barnsley on June 17, 2006. The band released their debut album For Those About To Rock in 2007 and gained significant traction on the UK festival scene, performing at major events like Glastonbury Festival. Notable collaborations include working with guitarist Graham Oliver from Saxon. In 2018, they released a ten-year retrospective album, The Bar-Steward Sons of Val Doonican/2008–2018, which reached number two in the iTunes comedy chart. The band also achieved chart success with singles like "I Believe In Father Christmas" and "The Gasman Cometh", which peaked at number 33 and number 55 on the UK Official Charts, respectively.
