Biography

Theatres des Vampires is an Italian gothic metal ensemble formed in 1994 in Rome by Alessandro Nunziati. The group transitioned from black metal to a style incorporating symphonic and classical elements. The ensemble released its debut studio recording, Vampyrìsme, nècrophilie, nècrosadisme, nècrophagie, in 1996. Its discography included The Vampire Chronicles (1999), Iubilaeum Anno Dracula 2001 (2001), Suicide Vampire (2002), and Nightbreed of Macabria (2004). In 2003, the group toured Europe with Christian Death. Sonya Siccardi became the lead vocalist in 2004 following the departure of Nunziati. The band signed with the label Dreamcell11/Aural Music in 2005 and released the studio recordings Anima Noir (2008) and Moonlight Waltz (2011). Siccardi recorded the track “Carmilla” (2011), for which a clip was directed by David Bracci. The ensemble released the recording Candyland in 2016 through Scarlet Records.
