M.O.P. is an American hip-hop duo from Brownsville, Brooklyn, formed in 1992 by rappers Billy Danze and Lilâ Fame. Short for Mash Out Posse, the group introduced its hard-edged East Coast style with the 1993 single âHow About Some Hardcore,â which led to the debut album To the Death in 1994. M.O.P. followed with Firing Squad in 1996, strengthening its long-running connection with DJ Premier, then released First Family 4 Life in 1998, a breakthrough album featuring guests such as Jay-Z, Guru, Treach, and O.C. The duo reached its widest commercial audience with Warriorz in 2000, driven by âAnte Up,â âCold As Ice,â and the âAnte Upâ remix with Busta Rhymes, Teflon, and Remy Martin. âAnte Upâ reached the Billboard Hot 100, while both âAnte Upâ and âCold As Iceâ became Top 10 singles in the U.K. After Warriorz, M.O.P. moved through several label chapters, including Roc-A-Fella and G-Unit, appearing with 50 Cent on âWhen Death Becomes Uâ and the âIâll Whip Ya Head Boyâ remix before leaving G-Unit in 2008. They returned with Foundation in 2009, the Snowgoons collaboration Sparta in 2011, and the DJ Premier-executive-produced EP Street Certified in 2014. In later years, M.O.P. remained active through singles and collaborations, including âNever Give Upâ with DJ Tomekk, DJ Kay Slayâs âRolling 50 Deep,â the 2024 singles âKillerâ and âPalm of My Hands,â and 2025 releases such as âWhat We Talking Bout,â âNY GOATS,â and âSidewalk Executives.â
