American singer-songwriter Teri Lynn DeSario was born on 27 November 1951 in Miami, Florida. She began her musical journey as a vocalist and instrumentalist with the Early Music Consort from 1970 to 1977, focusing on medieval and Renaissance music. Her breakthrough came when Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees wrote "Ain't Nothing Gonna Keep Me From You" for her after hearing her demo, leading to her first hit single in 1978 and her debut album Pleasure Train. Her career took a significant turn with her duet with Harry Wayne Casey (KC) of KC and the Sunshine Band on "Yes, I'm Ready", which reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1980. This success was followed by several albums, including Moonlight Madness (1979), Caught (1980), and A Call To Us All (1983). In the mid-1980s, she transitioned to contemporary Christian music with releases like Voices in the Wind (1985) and was nominated for a Grammy in 1986 for Best Female Gospel Performance. Her music also gained popularity in Japan and the Philippines during this period. She later took on production roles and contributed vocals to various artists' albums, including Mark Snow's The Truth and the Light: Music from the X-Files (1996).
