Biography
Teresa Bright, was an American vocalist known for her contributions to native Hawaiian music. She began her career in the 1980s as part of the duo Steve and Teresa alongside Steve Mai. Her first solo album, Self Portrait, was released in 1990. Bright's repertoire included a mix of Hawaiian language lyrics and an extensive jazz and hapa-haole collection, with her music being particularly popular in Japan. She also received multiple Na Hoku Hanohano Awards, including wins in 1988 (shared with Steve Mai`i), 1991, and 2009. Bright received a lifetime achievement award from the Hawaiʻi Academy of Recording Arts on December 6, 2020. She passed away on September 1, 2024.
