Biography

Tamás Benkócs, born in Hungary in 1972, is a classical bassoonist. He studied music at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest with Laszlo Hara, Jozsef Vajda and Tibor Fulemile. At age twenty, he was appointed as principal bassoonist of the Budapest Festival Orchestra. In 1998, Benkócs joined the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra as principal bassoonist before returning to Hungary in 2004 to continue his role with the Budapest Festival Orchestra. As a soloist, Benkócs performed in Germany, Hungary, and Singapore, and played regularly with the Budapest Festival Orchestra. His albums include five discs of Vivaldi's complete bassoon concertos for the Naxos label.
