Biography

Sylvie Courvoisier is a Swiss musician and composer born in Switzerland in 1968. Courvoisier studied at the Conservatory of Lausanne and the Conservatory of Montreux. After moving to New York City in 1998, they formed a partnership with the violinist Mark Feldman. Their recordings include Sauvagerie courtoise (1994), Ocre (1996), and the double album Abaton (2003). Courvoisier collaborated with Mark Feldman on the albums Music for Violin and Piano (1999) and Masada Recital (2004). Their trio with Drew Gress and Kenny Wollesen released the albums Double Windsor (2014), D'Agala (2018), and Free Hoops (2020). Courvoisier received Germanyâs International Jazz Piano Prize in 2022 and the Swiss Music Grand Prix in 2025.
