The band consists of Peter Kraemer on vocals and saxophone, Terry MacNeil and William "Truckaway" Sievers on guitars, Martin Beard on bass, and Norman Mayell on drums. The group was named by founding member Peter Kraemer. Sopwith Camel gained attention after being produced by Erik Jacobsen, who also worked with the Lovinâ Spoonful. Their debut single "Hello, Hello" became a national hit. Sopwith Camel released their self-titled debut album Sopwith Camel in 1967 on Kama Sutra Records, followed by the singles "Postcard from Jamaica" and "The Great Morpheum". The band was unable to follow up the success of their first album and single and disbanded later in 1967. The group reformed in 1971 with all original members except Sievers, releasing the album The Miraculous Hump Returns From The Moon in 1973 on Reprise Records. Sopwith Camel disbanded permanently in 1974.
