Solange Bouquin, also known as Solange Michel, born on November 27, 1912, in Paris, was a French mezzo-soprano known for her extensive career in opera. She began her musical training at the Conservatoire de Paris and made her radio debut in 1936. In 1945, she adopted the name Solange Michel and joined the Opéra-Comique. She quickly rose to prominence at the Opéra de Paris, becoming one of the leading mezzo-sopranos of her era with notable roles including the title role in Carmen by Georges Bizet and Dalila in Samson et Dalila by Camille Saint-Saëns. Internationally, she performed at prestigious venues such as Covent Garden in London and La Scala in Milan. Michel's career spanned from the 1930s to the 1970s, with her final recital taking place in Besançon in 1978. She passed away on December 15, 2010, in Bourges.
