Biography

The Escorts were a rock'n'roll group originating from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, formed in 1959 by a collective of local musicians. Their first notable single, "The One To Cry", appeared in the mid‑1960s, establishing the band’s early presence on the regional rock and roll scene. In 1997 the Iowa Rock ’N Roll Music Association inducted the Escorts into its Hall of Fame, the same year the association was founded, marking a significant recognition of their role in Iowa’s music history. Throughout their career the Escorts performed extensively in Iowa ballrooms and toured out of state, collaborating with local artists and contributing to the region’s cultural fabric. Although no chart positions or national awards are recorded, the 1997 Hall of Fame induction and the release of their later albums underscore their lasting impact on the local music scene. The group’s legacy is preserved through these recordings and the continued recognition by the Iowa Rock ’N Roll Music Association.
