Scott Tennant, born March 1962 in Detroit, Michigan, is an American classical guitarist, composer, and founding member of the Grammy Award-winning Los Angeles Guitar Quartet. He started musical studies at age six, focusing on violin and trombone before dedicating himself to guitar. After graduating from Cass Technical High School in 1980, Tennant attended the University of Southern California's school of music until 1986. His early career highlights include silver medals at the Toronto International Guitar Competition in 1984 and the Paris Radio France Competition in 1988, followed by a gold medal at the Tokyo International Competition in 1989. He has also taught at institutions such as the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, the USC Thornton School of Music, and the Pasadena Conservatory of Music.
