Biography

Scotch, an Italian Italo disco band formed in Bergamo in 1982, consisted of members Vince Lancini, Fabio Margutti, Franz Rome, Franz Felleti, and Manlio Cangelli. The group were put together by record producers David Zambelli and Walter Verdi, and their initial success came with the instrumental piece "Penguins' Invasion", written by Manlio Cangelli. Three months after its release, a vocal version featuring Vince Lancini as the lead singer was produced, marking his official joining of the band alongside Fabio Margutti. Scotch released their debut album Evolution in 1984, which included notable tracks such as "Disco Band" and "Delirio Mind". "Disco Band" became a significant hit, reaching number three in Germany and topping the charts in Austria. The following year saw the release of the single "Take Me Up", which peaked at number 19 in Germany. In 1986, they released "Mirage" and other notable singles like "Money Runner" and "Pictures". Their final album, Pictures Of Old Days, was released in 1987. The band called it quits the same year. After their split, their music continued to gain recognition, with "Disco Band" being sampled on Scooter's 2007 hit single "Lass uns tanzen", and "Penguins' Invasion" appearing on various Italo disco compilations.
